English Language Arts:

Students will listen, speak, read, write, view and represent to:
  • explore thoughts, ideas, feelings and experiences,
  • comprehend, and respond personally and critically to oral, print and other media texts,
  • manage ideas and information,
  • enhance the clarity and artistry of communication,
  • respect, support and collaborate with others.

Students achieve these general outcomes through a daily focus on spelling, grammar, punctuation, phonics, printing, oral presentations, journal writing, group discussions, and guided and independent reading.

Home Readers: Please ensure your child is reading every day.  To increase fluency and comprehension, have your child read the books more than once.  Please sign the Home Reading form and make comments so we can work together to support your child's developing literacy.  Click here to view our Home Reading Guidelines.
