Health and Life Skills:
Students will:

  • make responsible and informed choices to maintain health and to promote safety for self and others,
  • develop effective interpersonal skills that demonstrate responsibility, respect and caring in order to establish and maintain healthy interactions,
  • use resources effectively to manage and explore life roles and career opportunities and challenges.
Physical Education:

Students will:
  • acquire skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities; dance, games, gymnastics,individual activities and activities in an alternative environment; e.g. aquatics and outdoor pursuits,
  • understand, experience and appreciate the health benefits that result from physical activity,
  • interact positively with others,
  • assume responsibility to lead an active way of life.

Art:

Students will:

  • respond to visual forms in nature, designed objects and artworks,
  • develop imagery based on observations of the visual world,
  • organise images and their qualities in the creation of unified statements,
  • use art materials as a vehicle or medium for saying something in a meaningful way.

Music:

Students will develop:

  • enjoyment of music,
  • awareness and appreciation of a variety of music, including music of the many cultures represented in Canada,
  • insights into music through meaningful musical activities,
  • self-expression and creativity,
  • musical skills and knowledge.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT):

ICT will be incorporated across the curriculum in the areas of:

  1. communicating, inquiring, decision making and problem solving,
  2. foundational operations, knowledge and concepts,
  3. processes for productivity
